Our mission here at Kids 1st OKC Childcare Center is to provide the children with a warm, safe, nurturing and loving environment, where they can learn and explore. We encourage independence and respect each child’s individuality.

Blocks

BLOCKS:

Block play stimulates learning in all domains of development. Children often use blocks to represent the world around them. Blocks relate to the concepts of math and science and encourages sharing and cooperation among children.

MUSIC & MOVEMENT:

Music is an educational activity with valuable and deep training goals that cannot be absent during the preschool years. It stimulates emotions, rhythm and singing expression in the child. Sensitivity and imagination are also developed through the various forms of music. It drives action and constitutes a medium for communication.

ART:

Through art children have the opportunity to express their ideas and feelings, relieve tension, and practice self-discipline. Artistic activities foster intellectual development by promoting thinking skills while selecting colors, textures and design. Art also increases the capacity of memory, attention, and concentration.

DRAMATIC PLAY:

Through dramatic play, children can develop social and emotional skills, which are essential for building relationships. It also teaches and promotes expressive language. It allows children to play different roles and to test their own creativity, reactions and responses from those around them. This teaches skills like empathy and understanding.

MANIPULATIVES:

Using manipulatives can help children practice a wide variety of skills such as fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination. It also teaches them shapes, colors and textures. Children can engage in manipulative play for hours while learning math and science concepts as well as social and emotional skills.

BOOKS AND LANGUAGE:

Language both written and spoken are developed through reading and telling stories. Learning the alphabet and learning how letters and their sounds come together to make words helps children communicate and socialize. Books and language also helps children with expression of emotions.
